At Mission Chiropractic clinic we perform a technique called dry needling which uses acupuncture needles to treat muscle dysfunction. This can be a result of an acute injury such as whiplash, or we can help chronic conditions like fibromyalgia or neuropathy.
Dry needle therapy is based on anatomy and Western medicine and is a highly effective pain management technique for reducing both acute and chronic pain syndromes. We usually see immediate and measurable changes in both pain levels and improved range of motion (movement). The insertion of the acupuncture needle into the affected muscle increases blood flow (oxygen) and creates a local inflammatory response which stimulates collagen and protein formation which stimulates healing, improves range of motion, and reduces pain.
